Great Watches Under $5,000
Breitling is known for their amazing chronographs and aviation-inspired timepieces. These categories often overlap, and the Breitling Emergency is one awesome example of that. You’ll find this watch on the wrists of pilots from around the world. This in large part due to its practical features, which include a distress beacon. If you ever find yourself in a crisis, you can pull out a mini antenna from under the case, and the watch will start broadcasting your location across two frequencies. International rescue forces monitor these frequencies, and the SOS signal your watch transmits can help them find you. Let’s be honest: Most of us will – hopefully – never need this function, just as most diving watches will never see more than the inside of a swimming pool; however, if you’re on the market for a conversation starter or you have a dangerous hobby where this function might be useful, the Breitling Emergency might be right for you.
Enthusiast’s Corner: Rare and Exceptional Timepieces
Tudor Black Bay Bucherer Edition
The Tudor Black Bay took the watch world by storm when it came to market almost ten years ago. Since its initial release, many models have seen the light of day, including some limited editions. Today, we are looking at a piece that Tudor made specifically for a luxury watch and jewelry chain. I’m talking about the mesmerizingly beautiful Tudor Black Bay Bucherer Edition. The Bucherer Edition mostly looks like other Black Bays but with a few subtle changes. First and foremost, the case is bronze and larger than the average BB at 43 mm. In homage to the retail chain, the main color (other than bronze) is blue. The bezel, dial, and strap all share the same blue hue. Blue and bronze pair beautifully, making the Tudor Black Bay Bucherer Edition an outstanding timepiece with all the BB features we love. The fact that it’s a limited edition is just an added bonus.
Iconic Timepieces: Great Value for Money
Laurent Ferrier Galet Square Boréal
It’s very easy to think of iconic watches from a brand like Laurent Ferrier. Virtually every watch they’ve ever created screams class and timelessness. That means buying a Laurent Ferrier Galet Square Boréal, for instance, is a pretty safe bet. There is definitely something special about this timepiece. It’s hard to describe the feeling you get when you first hold it in your hands. Firstly, this model is as elegant as it gets. It features beautiful hands with a complex case shape that wraps around the wrist so well that you barely notice it’s there. Secondly, its intricate micro-rotor movement is a work of art. Thanks to the display case back, you can admire the caliber at work. At 41 mm, the Laurent Ferrier Galt Square Boréal is on the larger side, but it doesn’t look huge or flashy thanks to its steel case. It is pure class on the wrist if you ask me.
