The Rolex Submariner 114060: Still Popular, Even Without a Date

In our Chrono24 zooms series, we take a closer look at specific models. This video focuses on the Rolex Submariner 114060. This watch was introduced at (where else?) Baselworld 2012. It’s the direct successor to the reference 14060/14060M, a favorite among collectors. Rolex produced this model from about 1989 to 2009. Even the modern Sub 114060 has a date display. However, many consider the “No-Date Sub” the only true Sub. Of course, this is a matter of some heated debate. One thing is for certain: In typical Rolex fashion, the differences are hard to spot unless you look very closely. That being said, this Submariner has officially taken the collection into the realm of modern watchmaking. What did Rolex change compared to the previous model? The movement? The band? After watching this video, you’ll have an idea of the Rolex Submariner’s development and will be able to decide whether you’d prefer the current No-Date Sub or a vintage version for yourself.
